There are so many people outside of the Catholic Church that do not understand what is going on ay Mass. In fact just this past week some of the people I work with were making fun of what is going on during Mass. They do not understand why we say certain things or repeat various prayers. If we sing certain hymns they tend to laugh at it and make fun of it. Some of them are younger and have not reached that point in their lives when they start thinking seriously about what will happen on that day when they pass away and enter the kingdom of heaven. I think that some people are confused by things that have happened during their lifetimes and this has caused them to think or believe a certain way.
I have found that if I try to explain something to them they will tend to ignore what I say and may go in the wrong direction. I have had occasions when someone has made a comment about the Catholic Church that is totally incorrect. I will usually try to give them the correct answer so they will have a better understanding. I do realize that there are times when the person just will not accept anything they are told. When this happens I tend to see that they are living in the world and living by what man says and not what God says. At this point all I can do is pray for them.
I did a little searching on the internet and found these videos so I hope you will enjoy them.
Roman Catholic Mass and its symbols -- Part 1 byDaniel Mayne
Today on June 22nd we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi. Corpus Christi is Latin for the Body Of Christ. This is the Feast Day and is the celebration of the body and blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist at the last supper when he said this is my body and this is my blood. Of course some people today will say this was meant only to be a symbol and not really his body and blood. I disagree with them and realize Jesus really meant what he said. This can be seen by the reaction of some of the people who were there as they could not accept this and left. If it were only a symbol why would they leave. Here is a video below of the Corpus Christi Procession.
Every time I hear the word Pentecost I think of tongues of fire over the Apostles heads. It was the time when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Christs Apostles. This happened 50 days after Jesus Resurrected from the dead. It has been believed to be called WhiteSunday and was around the first century. There is no actual proof of this, but they believe it was called whitesunday due to the people wearing white clothing when they were baptized. It is believed that 1 Corinthians 16:8 may have referred to the Jewish Feast. " 8 Till Pentecost, I shall be staying at Ephesus" . Here is a link to the Catholic Encyclopedia about Pentecost Whitesunday http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/15614b.htm .
There are seven gifts that the Holy Spirit gave to the Apostles on Pentecost. One of them was the ability to speak in tongues. He gave them this gift of speaking in arrange tongues so they could speak to the crowds. These were the people that came to Jerusalem for the Feast. This was also the point at which he gave the Apostles the extra strength to deal with whatever Satan was to put in their path. I do not believe one of them would say some kind of gibberish and then someone else would translate it. I did hear that when I was in another church during my journey and it always sounded wrong or just plain confusing.
I do love Acts Chapter 2 when peter gave his speech. It always makes me full of wonder and amazement. Here is that scripture " 14*
Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice, and proclaimed
to them, “You who are Jews, indeed all of you staying in Jerusalem. Let
this be known to you, and listen to my words.
15These people are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only nine o’clock in the morning.
16No, this is what was spoken through the prophet Joel:
